Curriculum

C1   Plans informative, developmentally appropriate lessons and/or units.

        INTASC 2, 3, 4, 7   NBPTS 1, 2

• This lesson plan over basic muscular strength and endurance training is for 6-8 graders demonstrates an appropriate and informative lesson for students.

• This lesson plan over gymnastic skills for2-3 graders an appropriate and informative lesson for the students.

C2   Teaches subject matter accurately to insure that students can meet P-12  academic standards.

• This lesson plan and reflection show that I can accurately teach the students according to the academic standards.
• This assessment document shows and displays that I am able to teach the standards accurately to my class.

C3   Uses interdisciplinary instruction as appropriate.

• This interdisciplinary lesson plan and reflection for k-1 grades combines mathematics and physical education.
• An assessment over my interdisciplinary lesson plan.

 C4   Addresses subject matter from various points of view.

• A power point shows how I am able to address the class over different issues such as disabilities.
• This abstract shows my ability to study a journal article, write it on paper and describe it the class.

 C5   Teaches students to use critical thinking and problem solving strategies.

• A crossword over fat soluble vitamins that helped the class think outside of the box and have fun at the same time.
• This written soccer test shows my ability to help assess while at the same time helping the students to think critcally and use different problem solving techniques when trying to find out the best possible answer to write down.

C6   Uses effective questioning strategies.

• This lesson plan shows my ability to effectively question students and their overall helath based on their nutrition.
• This paper demonstrates the difference between non verbal and verbal communication, which in turn helps myself become a better teacher and better at questioning and challenging my students.

Assessment

A1   Develops appropriate tools to assess learning.  

       INTASC 4, 8   NBPTS 3

• This is a table tennis test that was created for my table tennis unit plan to test the knowledge of skills and rules learned throughout the three weeks.
• This written test was created to help test and evaluate the knowledge of movement concepts and locomotor movements that were taught during the semester.

A2   Assesses learning through standardized and/or teacher constructed tests to drive future instruction.   

    INTASC 8   NBPTS 3

• The test of Gross Motor Development 1 2 3 4 was administered during PEP at the beginning of the semester and the end to evaluate students progress in their locomotor and manipulative skills.
• These weekly notes assess my students overall behavior through PEP and interaction with other student's her age and development level.

A3   Assesses learning through appropriate alternative measures to drive future instruction.

          INTASC 4, 8    NBPTS 3

• This golf reciprocal task sheet was used to help the students use cooperative learning and perform task as an observer and a doer. It also gave the students appropriate peer assessment.
• This nutrition study guide was to used during a nutrition unit plan, in order to help the students study for their test over basic nutrition.

A4   Uses a variety of appropriate, authentic assessment tools and methods.

• This fitness gram was used as an assessment tool to help evaluate their overall health.
• A progress report is administered during PEP to evaluate students past and current development levels in the pyschomotor and cognitve aspects.

R1   Demonstrates sensitivity for diversity with students, colleagues, parents, college,  faculty, and/or community agencies.

• This diversity workshop handout was given to the class prior to the presentation.
• This service learning reflection shows my understanding and appreciation while working with individuals with disabilities.

R2   Demonstrates with full awareness of ethical and legal responsibilities of teachers.

• A certificate showing that I supported literacy.
• This scholarship was presented to myself at a teaching conference.

R3   Values life-long learning, personal/professional development, and/or service orientation.

• This certificate shows my participation in a workshop FIT 4 Learning that introduced new ways to get students actively involved.
• This certificate shows that I am a certified class A volunteer for the Special Olympics.

• A feedback evaluation that was filled out by my peers during a PEP session in which I taught one of my lessons.
• An assessment over my presentation on supplements which accurately depicts my overall ability to communicate to a classroom.

• This observation paper shows how I communicated my experiences in the classroom to a written paper.
• This reflection shows my appropriate written communication skills based on my teaching experience.

• This newsletter was handed out to the students displaying a calendar with different activities for them to accomplish on their own or with family during the summer.
• This lesson plan shows the students working in a weight room circuit activity, allowed the students to work individually on their own trying new lifts or working together to perform a certain lift or exercise accurately.

• This paper over my philosophy helps to explain and demonstrate my ability and my overall approach on how to handle kids with different learning styles along with being able to address every kid's need in class.
• This jump rope lesson plan helps to explain that individuals needs and different learning styles are being met when participating in jump rope and jump rope rhymes.

• This power point shows my ability to use media/technology to help teach students different material.

• In this facility accessibility evaluation, I evaluated various facilites around campus to see if they were safe for people with handicaps.
• These questions show my ability to mediate and manage student behavior in safe, positive ways in the classroom.

• An assessment over conflict resolution skills and mediation in middle schools.
• A reflective essay over bullying, mediation and "don't feed the bully" workshop.
