Each Manchester College Teacher Candidate…

Curriculum- constructs and delivers appropriate curriculum for P-12 students.

My Lesson Plan over creating simple paragraphs with topic sentences and supporting details shows my ability to develop an appropriate lesson for a third grade class.

The Phonics Lesson that I created for first grade teaches students to use letter tiles to create different words with different sounds. They were     given a certain letter tiles and they would have to use clues given to create words using only the tiles they had on their desk.

My Social Studies Unit Plan about Holidays showcases my ability to not only meet P-12 academic standards but also engage the students through different lessons and activities.

This Thirds Lesson Plan shows my ability to teach a lesson where students can meet the state standards.

This Interdisciplinary Lesson Plan and Rubric incorporates both physical education and social studies.

My Kids Get Moving Lesson Plan links physical education with health and wellness. The students read a Time for Kids magazine about staying healthy and the activities we can do to help our health and then discussed what they do during P.E. that helps them stay healthy.

This Science Trail demonstrates my ability to teach from different points of view because we didn't know what grade or age we would be working with.

This lesson plan over Writing a Letter to the Tooth Fairy required me to understand that not all students believe in the tooth fairy or receive money from the tooth fairy for a lost tooth. That made me teach the lesson in a way of why they would think the tooth fairy should leave them money if they lost a tooth.

My Lesson Plan and Rubric over creating shelters shows my ability to have students engage in problem solving.

During this Counting Collections of Coins lesson plan, I incorporated many of Bloom's Taxonomy questioning to require my students to think on a higher level while counting their coins and trying to come up with different ways to make the same amount.

This list of Bloom's Taxonomy Questions that I have created for the story Captain Raptor and the Moon Mystery, shows that I am able to use effective questioning strategies.

This lesson plan over Writing Legibly in Cursive demonstrates my ability to ask high-level thinking and highlights many of Bloom's questioning strategies.

Assessment- assesses students’ learning and development with a variety of measures to aid in appropriate and effective instructional planning

·         A1- Develops appropriate tools to assess learning INTASC 4, 8 NBPTS 3

This Lesson Plan and Rubric over the cardinal directions shows my ability to use appropriate tools to assess students' learning.

My Social Studies Unit Plan showcases my ability to not only create appropriate lessons, but also appropriate tools to assess what my students have learned and how to make changes to my instruction for future planning.

·         A2- Assesses learning through standardized and/or teacher constructed tests to drive future instruction INTASC 8 NBPTS 3

My Middle Childhood Social Studies lesson plan shows an analysis graph of pre and post test assessment results.

This Chapter Test was given to my students after we spent a week and a half on measurement and conversion of measurement. They were given this test after we played a review game to test their knowledge of what they had learned through the chapter's lessons.

·         A3- Assesses learning through appropriate alternative measures to drive future instruction INTASC 4, 8 NBPTS 3

During our presentation for classroom management theorist Ronald Morrish, my group members and I chose to assess the students by having them answer a couple questions that contained to our presentation. After the presentation, I wrote a Reflection about the results of this assessment.

Using this Running Record on the book Sam and Little Bear, I was able to conclude that the first grade student had a reading fluency of 98% and that put him at an independent reading level and was ready to move onto the next reading level.

·         A4- Uses a variety of appropriate, authentic assessment tools and methods INTASC 4, 8 NBPTS 3

This Lesson Plan and Assessment is part of my Social Studies Unit Plan. For this lesson I decided to assess the students by having them circle the four symbols on the worksheet that represent the United States.

This Reader Case Study and Rubric over a fourth grader shows my ability to create a reading intervention plan for one student and use appropriate tools to assess whether or not the interventions worked.

Relationships- Establishes professional and reciprocal relationships with others invested in P-12 students’ learning

This Diversity Workshop Paper demonstrates my sensitivity for diversity in our schools and makes me realize that I need to look at what students are going through outside of school.

This Certificate of Attendance for the Fit 4 Learning workshop, shows my commitment to becoming better equipped to effectively serve students and grow professionally through workshops like these and continue to learn how to teach and instruct better.

My Code of Ethics Brochure demonstrates that I recognize the ethical responsibility of teachers.

My Autism Workshop Reflection and Rubric demonstrate my awareness of the importance of knowing how to deal with autistic students and the appropriate tools to help them succeed in the classroom.

This Certificate of Attendance from a conference on Inclusive Environments shows that I value personal/professional development.

This Liberal Arts Reflection Paper demonstrates my understanding of the importance of a liberal arts degree and my sensitivity to diversity.

My Oral Presentation Rubric demonstrates my ability to use professional oral communication skills.

This Oral Presentation Rubric shows communication skills while sharing my knowledge about Inclusive Environments from the conference.

My Journal Article Critique allowed me to express my thoughts of the article through written communication skills.

My Final Reflection Paper allows me to reflect on my education and experiences here at Manchester while demonstrating my ability to write     appropriately and effectively.

These extension activities that are associated with Trade Books show that I provide students with different ways to learn, whether it be individually, collaboratively, or cooperatively.

This Metric Length Lesson Plan demonstrates my ability to not only have students work individually, but provide them with an opportunity to help one another with measuring and work collaboratively to accomplish the goal of the lesson.

This Webquest and Rubric demonstrate my ability to work in a group and plan an interactive webquest for students.

This Talk It Out Lesson Plan was created for a second grade class in our Intercultural Communications class. It was planned in a group and then we went to the elementary school and taught the students what to do when in a conflict at school.

Environment- Creates positive and caring environments for student development and learning

This Lesson Plan that combines physical education and Social Studies shows my ability to create a lesson plan where I can instruct students who have different learning styles or may have challenges in participating in the activity.

This Lit Block Final Project shows that I am able to create activities for all types of learners. Some students like to review by reading the book, or creating outlines, reviewing on their own, or playing a visual learning game. This is one way to reach different types of learners through a review game.

My Science Trail and Rubric show my ability to develop creative lesson plans using a variety of teaching methods and materials by doing hands on experiments.

This Civil War Power Point discusses the involvement of Indiana and many Hoosiers who contributed to the Underground Railroad and escapes of many slaves.

This Presentation over a famous Hoosier shows my ability to use a variety of technology.

This Math Review Game I created on the internet shows my ability to be creative and create activities and lessons using different technology to engage the students in lessons.

This Running Record shows that I am able to use appropriate assessment tools when working with a reader.

This Case Study and Rubric shows that I can keep records about the progress of a two year old.  I interviewed the parents to document some aspects of her life before knowing her. I also reported on the student's physical, cognitive, and social developments within this case study.

This Classroom Management Plan shows my philosophy of how a classroom can be run and provide a safe and positive environment for students.

This Behavior Plan was created for a student during my fourth grade placement. This was available to him to see throughout the day so that he knew how we thought he was behaving and handling situations in the classroom.

This Position Paper reflects on what I have learned about conflict resolution skills in the classroom and how I will handle problems.

This Conflict Resolution Trade Book activity over conflict resolution reflects my ability to choose a children's book and use it to teach my students about how to deal with conflict in the classroom, recess, or outside of school.

This Field Experience Reflection Paper shows my ability to reflect on best teaching practices.

My Field Experience Reflection Paper allowed me to reflect on the teaching strategies used by the classroom teacher.
