CONCEPTS OF PRINT
Before children can even begin to read, they must first of all understand the foundation of reading: print carries a message, there is an appropriate way to hold a book, there are differences between letters and words, and there are differences between upper and lower case letters to name a few. Assessing a child’s concepts of print will provide the teacher with important information regarding the child’s readiness to read.
