The Process

Now that the jobs have been assigned, the computer controller should click here and print off the worksheets, which the recorder will fill out. Work together as a group to help complete the following activities and worksheets too. All this is to be done so that you learn about the different seasons, in addition to helping Martin understand the seasons that occur on this planet.

Activity 1- What to Wear?

You need to help Martin understand the weather types and how they affect what a person wears each day. In order for you to explain this to him, click on the "how do people dress in..." underneath each season, that way you are able to tell him the correct answers.

Winter

Spring

Summer

Fall

Activity 2- Temperature Changes

This part of the webquest will help you understand the different temperatures that occur within each of the seasons. In turn, you will be able to explain this to Martin and it will help him dress appropriately. We don't want him to wear shorts and a t-shirt in the middle of winter because he would freeze.

Before going to the following websites, be sure to read over the worksheets that you printed off earlier, otherwise this activity might not make sense.

...now that you have read over your worksheets for this activity you may continue.

First you are to go to http://www.weatherwizkids.com/weather-temperature.htm. Once there, use the "temperature conversion calculator" to complete the worksheet that was mentioned above. After completing the conversions, go to http://www.netrover.com/~jjrose/weather/weather.html and play "The Weather Game." The directions for the game are listed on the website, but if you do not understand them you can email sokipfer@spartans.manchester.edu for help. One important thing to remember is that you will need look at the conversions chart you filled out; otherwise, you may not be able to correctly read and understand the thermometer, since it is in Celsius.

Activity 3: Winter Weather

Go to http://www.surfnetkids.com/games/quiz/snow/. At this website you will play a game called "Snow Game Show." It is a game similar to jeopardy. Even if you do not know the answer to a question at least try and if the answer is wrong, the right answer will be shown and explained.

Don't forget to fill out the circle chart, within the worksheets, with new and/or interesting winter weather facts. By doing this, Martin will learn about the upcoming winter season. Since he has never seen or experience snow before, this will all be interesting for him.
