Performances Objectives:

            -The students will think of questions to ask the student being interviewed.

            -The students will raise their hands when they have a question.

            -The interviewee will answer questions appropriately.

 

Advanced Preparation by Teacher:

            -The teacher will need to have a large piece of paper to write the student‘s answers on during the interview.

            -The teacher may need to practice appropriate interview questions with the students.

 

Procedure:

           

            Intro/Motivation: The teacher will announce that they are going to be interviewing someone extremely important. For extra excitement the teacher may provide a special chair and or microphone for the interviewee.

           

            Blooms critical thinking questions to ask along the way:

            -Level 1-Knowledge

                        1. What is the interviewee’s responsibility?

                        2. Why did you ask the questions you did?

            -Level 2- Comprehension

                        1. How would you compare  _______’s answers to how you might answer the question ?

                        2. What can you say about the interview?

            -Level 3-Application

                        1. How would you show you understood the question being asked?

                        2. What would result if _______ didn’t answer the question?

            -Level 4 Analysis

                        1. What are the parts of the interview?

                        2. What is the function of an interview?

            -Level 5-Synthesis

                        1. How would you improve the interview?

                        2. What sort of area would you design for an interview to take place?

            -Level 6 Evaluation

                        1. Why was it better that everyone raised their hands when they had a question?

                        2. What is your opinion of __________’s answer ?

           

           

           

           

            Step by Step Plan:

1.  After asking the students to think about questions to ask during the interview, invite one student up to sit in the special chair.

2. Have a large notepad ready to put the student’s answers into sentences while the interview is proceeding.

3. The teacher will call on students who have their hand raised to ask questions to the student being interviewed.

4. After the interview is completed the teacher will read aloud what he or she has written to make sure it is correct.

 

Closure: The teacher will discuss how by interviewing someone you can find out different things about them you never would have known. Also by interviewing a student, the other students find out the similarities and differences that exist between them. This could be an activity you do everyday or every week with a different student.
