This lesson was taught on the first day of school in a 3rd grade class. The students had to use critical thinking and problem solving strategies to come up with a way to survive on a deserted island only having a supply of certain materials.
This lesson was taught as the students were learning about weather and the water cycle. The students were asked to complete an experiment and they had to give reasoning about their observations of what was happening. They had to use their critical thinking skills to conclude that the experiment was an example of the water cycle.
