WORMS R' US

Created by:  Cierra Wisher, Brandy Elliott, and Missy King

This website goes along with the children's book Diary of a Worm by Doreen Cronin.

The activities below are designed to be used with 2nd Grade readers.

Book Summary:  Diary of a Worm

Image found on HarperCollins.com

This book portrays the day-to-day life of a worm.  The humor of the text and the descriptive illustrations catch the attention of the reader, young or old.  Worm shares similar experiences of a human, but from the perspective of a worm.  You would never think of the hokey pokey as a hard dance, until you try it as a worm.  This book, displayed in the form of an actual diary, is a great way to get children reading.

After Reading Activities

Activity 1

*  In this activity you will create a calendar to keep track of things that happen on each day, such as the worm did in the book.  Click on the link below to begin your very own calendar for this month.  When you first begin your calendar be sure to add the month in the title line and the dates where they belong for that month. Your calendar should also include 2 occasions of your choice.  For these two occasions you should type when and what the day is and use clip art to illustrate them.  For example, if you are doing a calendar of the month of April you might include April Fools Day as one of your occasions.  Be creative and have some fun!!!
