Summary of Book:

Rain Drop Splash is a Caldecott Honor book written by Alvin Tresselt. This is a concept book rather than an actual story book. It has been raining all day and there is nothing to do. Where does all the rain go? The book traces the journey of rain starting out on a mountain side and finally ending up in the sea.  Children will learn the journey of rainfall from  puddle to pond to brook to lake to river to the sea.

About The Author:

Alvin Tresselt was born September 30, 1916 in Passaic, New Jersey.  Being an author, editor, and a teacher, Mr. Tresselt was a pioneer in children’s books.  He wrote with a poetic prose style and created the “mood” picture book.  This type of book relies not on a plot and character but on setting and description.  Nature meant a great deal to him and his stories show that. Mr. Tresselt tries to help readers experience the wonders of the natural world and to enjoy the fun and beauty of language (Official Alvin Tresselt Website).
