Owl Moon Summary
The story of Owl Moon takes place on a late winter night where a father and his daughter attempt to go on an adventure in hopes of seeing the Great Horned Owl. They refer to this adventure as "Owling" as they travel deep into the woods picking and choosing their spots to call out the sound of a Great Horned Owl by the hooting sound, whoo-whoo-who-who-who-whoooo. The extreme cold weather makes it difficult at times for them to continue forward on their journey, but they move on leaving footprint after footprint in the snow. There's no certainty of seeing the owl, but the father in the story calls out numerous chants to try and compel the owl to come out of hiding. After failed attempts, they continue walking when the girl becomes fearful of the darkness in the woods and that there could be all sorts of different creatures hiding behind the trees, but she knows to be brave. After countless walking, they eventually hear an echo through the trees...Is it the Great Horned Owl??..I don't know, you're going to have to read the book to find out!!
