Field Experience
I am greatly interested in finding a career that
incorporates both my education and psychology majors.
To help remedy this interest, this past
semester I participated in a 180-hour, unpaid internship at a local
elementary and intermediate school in North Manchester, Indiana.
I shadowed a licensed social worker who does many jobs including the following: leading social groups for
students who need a sense of belonging, speaking with self-referred students who are in need of emotional support,
mediating and conciliating arguments between students, contacting teachers and parents in regards to students’
behaviors, etc. It was great to be
able to see to the psychological needs of
children in an educational setting.
