Activity One: Did you know that crawdads' scientific name is Orconectes rusticus? In Crawdad Creek, Michael finds a crawdad and describes it as "jerky, pale, with eyes on stalks and claws clicking." What is so special about crayfish? Or not so special? Find out by going to this EKK!! website. Take out a sheet of paper and write down four interesting facts about crawdads. Be detailed in your facts because you will be using them in the next activity!!

Activity Two: Now that you are experts on crayfish you are going to write an Acrostic poem. An Acrostic poem is a poem that does not have to rhyme. Go to this awesome poem website it will assist you in writing and will tell you all about what an acrostic poem is. The only rule is it has to be about CRAWDADS!! Have fun with this and use your knowledge of crawdads to help you. *Don't forget to print your poem*
