Patricia Polacco

Patricia Polacco was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1944. Soon after being born Patricia's family moved to Union City, Michigan and lived on the farm with her grandparents. At the age of three Patricia's parents divorced. In 1949 she moved to California. In California, Patricia graduated from college with a Ph.D. in fine arts.
Patricia Palocco did not begin writing children's stories until she was 41 years old. She began writing down her own family stories and illustrating them. The rest is history!
Patricia has recently moved back to the small town in Union City, Michigan. She has built a new home and has it open for the public to meet her and share the love of literacy!
