The Process

As a renowned group of historians, you and your fellow team members will create a series of journal/diary entries from the perspective of someone involved in one of the World Wars.

1.       First, you will be assigned to a group of 3 people.

2.       Then, you will agree upon a perspective of the war.  This will be approved by me before you begin any type of research.  (This will be decided by the end of the first day.)

a.      You can pick the perspective of.

                                                               i.      A soldier

                                                             ii.      Someone in the navy

                                                            iii.      Air pilot

                                                           iv.      Medic/nurse

                                                             v.      Family at home

                                                           vi.      Victims of discrimination

                                                          vii.      Well known leaders

viii.      Any other perspective you may think of

3.       Once approved, you must begin searching for a real person's journal or diary entries.  You must chose at least two primary sources of the same perspective.  (These sources should be found by the end of day 2 in the computer lab.)

4.       Upon finding those sources, you will fill out the Journal Analysis Worksheet prepared for you.  The group should work together to do this.  (This should be started before class ends on the second day and finished on the third day.)

5.       After the two sources have been analyzed by your group, you will begin taking the information found in those sources about the experience of that person in the wars and create a series of 4 journal/diary entries.

a.       Your group can do this by

                                                               i.      Creating a powerpoint

                                                             ii.      An actual journal

                                                            iii.      Glogster

                                                           iv.      Prezi

                                                             v.      Recorded media journals

vi.      If there are any other ideas, run them by the teacher first.

b.      These journals need to include emotion, the effect of the war on this person, their experience in the war, and most importantly one major event occurrence during the war, that makes it clear which war this participate was in.

6.       Sources are listed below.  You are given, but not limited to these sources.

7.       You will be given 2 days in the computer lab to create the series of journals.  So, it is important that you formulate ideas for your journals while at home and on paper.  This will ensure that you finish in the 2 days given to you to type out your journals on the computer.
