Activities before reading

*These activities are meant to get you into the mind set for reading about mammals and their skulls.

Activity 1: Fill out this sheet with mammals that begin with each letter of the alphabet.

Activity 2: Go to this website to look up the following words. While looking up the word, you need not write anything down, but think of how each definition is applied to mammals. These words will help you understand some of the clues in the book.

Activity 3: Go to this website to learn about mammal skulls. Here, click on each part of the skull to learn about parts of a raccoon's skull. Then learn about the evolution of mammals by clicking on each branch of the tree. Every time you click on something, make sure you read the information.
