BOOK SUMMARY
Most kids who ask their parents for a pet have a dog or a cat in mind, but the child in this story wants nothing less than a stegosaurus. He tells his mother the benefits of having such a monster for a companion. He tells her these things because he has been sitting on an egg in the woods and now it's starting to crack open.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Lois G. Grambling has given out many Halloween treats over the years and has always been especially generous to the smiling T. Rexes who, she says, have never ever frightened her! She has written numerous award-winning books, including Can I Have a Stegosaurus, Mom? Can I? Please!?, illustrated by H. B. Lewis; The Witch Who Wanted to be a Princess, a illustrated by Judy Love; and Daddy Will be There, illustrated by Walter G. Kessell. Ms. Grambling lives in upstate New York with her husband, Arthur.
Fun Fact: It was a woman who discovered the first dinosaur. This is really a fun fact to share with both boys and girls. She gave this unusual fossil to her husband and they discovered what they thought was a giant lizard. They named it Iguanodon because it appeared similar in structure to an iguana. It was a while before it was realized that it was not just a lizard but an animal that had lived on Earth millions and millions of years ago.
