To complete the WebQuest, please follow each step carefully!
1. With your partner, write down three descriptive words about clouds in your science journal. Some examples of descriptive words are big, small, gray, white, puffy, wispy, etc.
2. First, you need to learn the names of the 4 types of clouds that are found in the sky. To do this, click here and print off the worksheet. Next, click here to find information about the types of clouds. Using this information, complete your worksheet!
The Following Steps Will Be Done Every Day at 11am for ONE WEEK!
3. In order to learn more about clouds and how they affect the weather, you will be observing clouds every day for one week with your partner. We will go outside each day this week from 11:00-11:30am to do our observations. You must share the work with your partner!
4. Click here to print off your observation record sheet. You and your partner will record your cloud observations here each day. It is very important to do this each day!
5. After you are back inside and are finished recording your cloud observations with your partner, draw a picture in the chart on your record sheet of what you think tomorrow's weather will be like. Think about the clouds you observed today and use your observations to help make your prediction about tomorrow's weather.
6. Next, click here to view The Weather Channel's website for Chicago and record the current temperature on your observation chart.
7. When you are finished with your observations at the end of the week, click here to take a cloud quiz!
8. Now get out your science journal and answer these questions:
1. Do cloud patterns change each day? 2. Do the types of clouds affect the temperature outside? 3. Was it easy to predict the weather for the next day based on the clouds you observed? 4. What was your favorite thing you learned about clouds?
