*Why I want to be a Teacher*

I have always wanted to be a teacher since I could remember. I used to play school with my friends all the time and I was the teacher. It is what I always dreamed of doing and I am almost there! I am a senior at Manchester College, which means I'm almost finished. I will be graduating in December of 2006! I am currently observing and helping out in a second grade classroom at Pierceton Elementary. I am learning many things in my classes, but most of all I am learning from the students who are in my second grade class!

*Graduate*

When I graduate, I plan on enrolling in the Teach for America Program for two years. Teach for America is a program where graduates enroll to teach in poverty corporations to help those who are less fortunate. I hope to be placed in New Jersey, New Mexico, Florida, or somewhere away from Indiana.

Don’t try to fix the students, fix ourselves first. The good teacher makes the poor student good and the good student superior. When our students fail, we, as teachers, too, have failed.
