About Me

My name is Stacey Morris-Morgan.  I am originally from North Liberty, a very small town in Northern Indiana, but I recently moved to Warsaw, IN.  I am currently working towards my English/Language Arts and Secondary Education degree from Manchester College and will graduate with honors and a Bachelor of Science Degree in the Spring of 2009.

My family has always been my support system.  My dad, Eric, owns a tool and die shop, and my mom, Laura, works as a media center aide at Urey Middle School in Walkerton, Indiana.  I have two younger sisters who are currently both in school.  My husband, David, works for a factory supply company.  He is also a musician, so you will frequently find me at different music venues supporting his band on weekends.  I also love to read, write, cook, visit with friends over hot chocolate, and do yoga and Pilates.

While attending Manchester College, I have served on the Student Education Association's Executive Board as the organization's Student Government representative.  During Student Government meetings I would vote on and discuss campus issues representing SEA's interests.

I was also a member of AmeriCorps and volunteered in Manchester College's Indiana Reading Corps office.  My job was to train college students to go into elementary schools and work with elementary students to improve their literacy skills.  I was also responsible for creating mini lesson plans to accompany children's literature for tutors to use while working with elementary students.  Another aspect of my job was to help run literacy fairs to educate parents about our program and the benefit of improving children's literacy skills.  We also provided free books and activities for their children.

I also coordinated an afterschool tutoring program called Partners In Learning at Manchester Junior High for two years.  I organized tutors and worked with teachers, administrators, parents, and students to provide academic help.

My campus jobs include working as the English Department Assistant where I was in charge of publicity for departmental events including publishing a department newsletter every semester and performing administrative tasks.  I also worked in Manchester's Writing Center helping students improve their writing skills and college papers.

One of my greatest accomplishments while attending Manchester College is presenting and publishing a research paper at the Clement S. Stacy Purdue Calumet Undergraduate Research Conference.  I also have poetry published in Spectrum, Manchester's literary magazine.
