Joanna Cole

      Joanna was born on August 11, 1944, in Newark, New Jersey.  As a young child she liked to play with insects and plant lots of flowers.  She was known as the "family gardener" because she often spent her time in the garden.  At a young age, while in the 5th grade, she realized that she loved to explain things and also write reports.  She had a teacher who looked like Ms. Fizzle giving her a main character for her famous The Magic School Bus books that she is known for.  She is now married to author, Phillip Cole, where they live in Connecticut  and they have one daughter.
