Reading Lessons

Unit based on the book the Wonderous Pigs of Jillian Jiggs:

Lesson 1:  In this lesson the book is read and the students work together to fill out a concept map about the story.

        Lesson 2:  This lesson helps students identify rhyming words.
        Lesson 3:  This lesson helps students distinguish the differences between real animals and

                            fictional characters.
        Lesson 4:  In this lesson the students learn to use descriptive words when writing.
        Lesson 5:  This lesson is the culminating activity and has the students make their own pig

                            and write about it.

The Little Hungry Catepillar:  This lesson combines bodily/kinesthetic, language, and artistic multiple intelligences to teach restating facts using Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Literature Focus Unit:  This unit was based on the book Where the Red Fern Grows
