Work Experience

*I am a mother and my daughter will be 3 on May 30, 2008. That is an everyday job.

 

Day of the Child- Went to Manchester Early Learning Center Daycare, which is located in North Manchester,  and read books to the children. (1 hour)

*Project Wild Workshop- held at Koinonia in 2007. There I participated in activities to use in the future to teach students about nature and our environment.

*Junior Achievement 2007- I got to teach 5 lessons about community and how it works to second graders at Manchester Elementary.

*Science Olympiad 2007- Manchester College held the Science Olympiad this year for junior high participants. I assistant judge for the architechtural mystery competition. Students had to build the tallest tower that could hold a softball using only the materials provided. 

Metro North Science Fair- I was one of many judge at Metro North Elementary School. The students had a science fair and we had to decide on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. It was not easy because all the students did such a great job.

Character Counts (Anderson University) - after school program at elementary school in Anderson, IN. We focused on the six pillars of character, 1 every week. Those pillars are trustworthiness, respect, caring, responsibility, fairness, and citizenship.

P.E. for Elementary Classroom (Anderson University) - taught home school kids. Each student got a group of kids from 7-10 children. We planned daily lessons/activities for the children.

October Festival- It's held every year in Anderson, IN. I volunteered at the arts and crafts table in the children's section. The theme that year was German culture. I helped the kids make bird feeders and special German necklaces. The helpers had to cut all the pieces for both projects  so when the kids came to our booth all they had to do was choose and create. Our table had well over 100 kids that day. (1 hour)

Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church- I have been going to this church since I was a baby. My mom is the head director of the children's programs and the children's Sunday school teacher. I'm her assistant. I  help the kids with crafts and volunteer at Vacation Bible School. When it comes time for special programs, either holiday or anniversaries, I help with the dancing, costumes, set-up (props), and anything else needed. (over 40 hours)

Harmon Photography- I work there part-time as the photographer's assistant. I help take pictures for holidays, weddings, and sporting events. For the holidays and sporting events I help pose the children and take group pictures for the sporting events. Ages range from newborns to 6th grade. It's located in Peru, IN. (over 40 hours)

Student Teaching - I student taught 3rd with Mrs. Cook at Manchester Elementary (North Manchester, IN) for 6 weeks. There I had control of her classroom of 25 students.  I created lessons, taught all subjects except for Science, and created my own discipline plan.   My second placement was with Ms. Baker at Indian Springs Middle School (Columbia City, IN). There I worked in the 7th grade resource room. I taught reading, planned language and math lessons, helped write an IEP, and attended 3 Case Conferences. That was also 6 weeks.
