About Me

Abstract

My story is full of ups and downs. I was not a very good student to begin with but in the end I pulled it together. I did not think I was going to be a good football player, but look where I am at now, playing college football. I never thought I would be able to make it to college but look at me now. I am a goal setter and a goal achiever and I am on my way to one of my biggest goal ever, a college degree.

On August 7, 1991 I was born in Logansport Community Hospital. I weighed 7 pounds and ten ounces, and I was 20 inches tall. I was born to my parents Tony and Marcy Hayden, and my older brother A.J. which was 3 at the time. We lived in a small home and I was very poor growing up but my parents still provided for us very well. I grew up as a small kid I was always very short and fat but that didn’t stop me from doing much.

I went to preschool at Little Children’s Ministry which is a preschool at a church we were attending at the time. I met my best friend still to this day in preschool his name is Cameron Samuels. Then came kindergarten, I was in Mrs. Walkers class. We did a lot of fun stuff and went on a lot of field trips. I had my first kiss in kindergarten on the bus going to the post office. I did not get into much trouble at that time since they realized I was too young to understand.

I entered the first day of first grade a little scared. I was wondering what a whole day of school was going to be like. If the food was going to be good and what possibly could we do all day at school? I was in Mrs. Rossi’s first grade class for half a year. Then once my mom found out that she had smacked me in the mouth she moved me to Mrs. Williams first grade class and I succeeded in her class.

In second grade I had Mrs. Prentice. She was so nice she would even buy pizza for us some days for lunch. I had a lot of friends in my class this year and that kind of hurt me. I would mess around with them more than worry about my school work and I would focus on what I was doing. Mrs. Prentice realized this and had to move my desk right next to hers so I would concentrate. I finished with decent grades, better than expected considering my first half of the year.

In third grade we had a blast. The teacher was so much fun and his name was Mr. Ladow. I learned to pay attention when the teacher was talking. This was the first year we did a project and it was facts about a state, I had Minnesota. This was the first year I started the sport that I love so much, football. Next year in fourth grade I had Mrs. Baker. She was a good teacher but she was very demanding and hard. It made me realize that school was not fun, but actual work.

In fifth grade I had Mrs. Peroney. She made class fun which made it easy to learn. I got my first girl friend in fifth grade. I still played football at this time, and I picked up two more sports basketball and baseball. I was a big sports fan. I tried out for the spelling bee but I came up short since spelling was never my strong point.

I attended Lincoln Middle School. In middle school I thought I knew everything and I thought I was the “big dog” in school so to say. I realized very quickly that I did not know everything. My grades kind of struggled my first year but after that year I got some tutoring help and I started doing better in the class room. I got all A’s and B’s all three years in middle school.

I excelled in many of sports in middle school. I played on the 7th grade football team as a 6th grader, and then played football in 7th grade and 8th grade. I played basketball all three years in middle school. All though our middle school did not have a baseball team, I played baseball all three years in little league.

After middle school I attended Logansport High School. I had big plans going into high school, I wanted some girl friends and I wanted to be a varsity football player but only one of them came true. I played in six varsity football games my freshman year. I got good grades pretty much all the way through high school. My hardest subject was probably Math and English. I still played football and baseball in high school but I had given up basketball. I played varsity football sophomore, junior, and senior year. I was an all state football player all three years. I played junior varsity baseball freshman and sophomore year, and varsity baseball my junior year.

I have always wanted to attend Manchester College since I was a sophomore in high school. I came on my first visit in the middle of my sophomore year and I fell in love with the school. I am currently playing football here at Manchester College and I love it. I played in some of the first varsity game and I started in the junior varsity game. I like the classes too. The teachers are so nice and if you ever need help it’s nice to know that they will be there for you whenever you need them. They are truly like another family away from your family and I think that is part of the reason that the school is so successful.
