Work and Volunteer Experience
Student Teaching- Metro North Elementary School, Grade 2- Over the course of seven weeks, I took over the duties and responsibilities of planning and teaching curriculum for a general education 2nd grade classroom. I planned units and lessons based on Indiana State Standards, including Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, Bloom's Taxonomy questioning strategies, and a variety of teaching styles for differentiated learning.
Student Teaching- Metro North Elementary School, Special Education- Over the course of seven weeks, I planned and implemented a variety of teaching styles to meet the needs of students with special needs. By following the students' IEPs and differentiating my style of teaching, the students' needs were met on a variety of levels.
Imagination Station- I was the teacher for the school age children (ages 4-12) during a summer day camp program. I collaborated with others to plan daily lessons and activities, and taught a group of 10-15 students.
Tutor- I tutored a second grade student in all subjects, focusing on language arts and math. I tutored during the spring semester and the summer of 2003.
Indiana Reading Corps- I was a reading coach for a fourth grade student. We spent time twice a week reading books and working on comprehension. 2004-2005
Tutor- As a part of Educational Psychology, I tutored twice a week at a local school. The student I worked with needed extra help in math and language arts.
Student Education Association- I served on the executive board of SEA as the publicist from 2005-2007. I attended the monthly programs organized by SEA
ARC of Wabash- I attended monthly programs that were organized by SEA for the ARC members.
Outreach to Teach- Indiana's SEA organizations joined together at an elementary school that was in need of repair work. The school was made-over so that the students and faculty could have a better experience during their time at school. 2007
Girl Scout Leader- During the 2006-07 school year, I was a leader for Daisy Troop 6706 in North Manchester. I planned activities and events for the troop and met every other week.
Mailroom Assistant- I worked in the campus mailroom where I sorted mail and packages and helped customers. 2005-2007
Campus Store Worker- I worked in the campus store where I ran the cash register, helped with inventory, and stocked shelves and racks with supplies and clothing. 2007
Cadet Teaching Program- Through a program with my high school, I acted as a cadet teacher in the elementary school during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 school years.
I worked in third grade the first year and moved to fourth grade the second year.
