Teaching Philosophy
I believe each child is a unique and important individual. I am looking forward to meeting the needs of the children who come into my classroom. The children that will enter my classroom will have different wants, backgrounds, desires, knowledge, and support. It will be my job to figure out what each child in my classroom needs to learn to be able to succeed in this world. It will not be an easy task since not every child learns in the same manner, but through differentiated instruction I will work my hardest to meet the needs of each child in my classroom. As the years go by, though, one detail will remain constant. The reason I teach will continue to be to make a difference in the lives of children.
Personal Story
I
am a senior Early Childhood and Mild Childhood with Mild
Interventions major at
Manchester College.
After my graduation in May I will be licensed to teach Pre-Kindergarten to sixth
grade elementary education, reading, learning disabilities, emotional
disabilities, and mildly mentally handicapped disabilities. I enjoy
participating in several extra-c
urricular activities during my time at Manchester
College. On campus, I have
served as the secretary for the
Student
Education Association. I have also
been a member of the A'Cappella Choir. During my freshman year, the
choir was able to sing throughout Italy over our spring break. It was a
very memorable trip. In my church I have been active
in Vacation Bible
School, Sunday School, weekend retreats, and morning worship.
My
family is very important to me. I grew up in
Portage, Indiana with my father, my mother, my brother, my sister, and my cat.
My father, Jim is a funeral director and my mother,
Kris, is a registered nurse.
Both of them sincerely enjoy what they are doing. My younger brother,
Jordan is a senior at Portage High School. He is the captain of the men's
swim team and he is a Past President of his local magician group. Jordan is
looking forward to attending college next fall where he will major in
marketing. My younger sister, Leslie, is a sophomore at Portage High
School. She is on the cross country team and is the manager of the men's
swim team. Leslie is also very active in Job's Daughters, an international
leadership group for young women. Leslie is currently serving as Junior
Miss Indiana Job's Daughter, an esteemed leadership position. Maverick is
our family's cat. He truly enjoys being the center of attention in our
household.
I am very excited about getting married next summer. My fiancé, Brock, and I have been dating for six years now. Brock is a senior Civil Engineering major at Purdue University. He has accepted a job as a Civil Engineering Analyst at Kimley-Horn Engineering Firm in Charlotte, North Carolina. We are looking forward to the new experiences we will have in North Carolina.
