C1- Plans informative, developmentally appropriate lessons and/or units INTASC 2, 3, 4, 7  NBPTS 1,2

The presentation in Foundations of Exceptional Learners over Emotional/Behavioral Disorders showed that I can adjust a common lesson or unit to work well with students with/without specific disorders. Rubric and Handout.

C3- Uses interdisciplinary instruction as appropriate INTASC 1, 7 NBPTS 1,2

The lesson plan Concept Charades that I created in Creative Dramatics uses movement and actions to express feelings and concepts without using communication. The students must think critically to use their bodies the way author's use words to portray emotions of their characters. This covers the state standard over characters and writing styles.

C6- Uses effective questioning strategies INTASC 4, 5, 7 NBPTS 1,2

I created a group of discussion questions over three separate Shakespearean plays in a Shakespeare class I took in the fall of 2011. Through theses discussion questions, I covered a wide variety of different types of open-ended questions that could lead into a through provoking group conversation. Set 1. Set 2. Set 3.

Assessment

…assesses students’ learning and development with a variety of measures to aid in appropriate and effective instructional planning

A1- Develops appropriate tools to assess learning INTASC 4, 8 NBPTS 3

I attended the workshop over Response to Instruction (RTI) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) on November 11, 2011 and learned that there are different ways to assess students on what they are learning. Through RTI assessment a student can be identified at an earlier stage in their struggles and through PBIS a school can be a positive safe environment. Reflection. Reference.

A2- Assesses learning through standardized and/or teacher constructed tests to drive future instruction INTASC 8 NBPTS 3

A3- Assesses learning through appropriate alternative measures to drive future instruction INTASC 4, 8 NBPTS 3
