Dinosaurs Roar by Henrietta and Paul Stickland--This book uses rhyming adjectives to describe features of the dinosaurs. It also has great illustrations.

A Quiet Place by Douglas Wood Illustrated by Dan Andreasen--This book is the story of trying to find a quiet place to go and relax and think things out.  The illustrations are beautiful.

Abuela by Arthur Dorros Illustrated by Elisa Kelven--This book uses Spanish and English to tell the story.  Great book for English Language Learners.

Duck for President by Doreen Cronin Illustrated by Betsy Lewin--This comical book is about a duck who is unhappy with working conditions on the farm and works his way up the political ladder to be President of the United States, only to realize that being president isn't all the fun he was hoping it would be.

The Story of Ruby Bridges by Robert Coles Illustrated by George Ford--This book tells the story of Ruby Bridges one of the first African American students integrated into the public school system in New Orleans in 1960.  Great for Black History Month (February).

Day Gogo Went to Vote by Eleanor Batezat Batezat Sisulu Illustrated by Sharon Wilson--This book is a story about a young girl in South Africa whose great grandmother insists on voting in the first elections that blacks were allowed to vote in 1994.  Another great book for Black History Month (February).
