About The Book
The story takes place on a farm in Indiana. The main character is a boy named Jonathan. He struggles with the fact that he is in a wheelchair. On this particular day he comes home from school and his mother has gone to town and his father is in the field. The conditions are favorable for a storm, so he starts to put the horses in the barn. The storm comes sooner than expected and he is forced to stay in the barn to protect the horses from running away. Once the storm has passed Jonathan discovers that he is capable of more than he imagined.
About The Author
This book, The Storm, was written by Marc Harshman. He was raised in Indiana, but now lives in West Virginia with his wife and daughter. Mr. Harshman has degrees from Bethany College, Yale University Divinity School, and The University of Pittsburg. He has authored 10 picture books for children. Besides being an author, he is also a poet. Marc has won many awards including 1995 Parent's Choice Award and Smithsonian Notable Book for Children.
