Course: Introduction to Philosophy (PHIL 201)    —    Instructor: Steve Naragon

Welcome!

Welcome to these online materials for my course on the “Introduction to Philosophy” (PHIL 201, Manchester College).

You will find here a schedule of the course, which is divided into twenty-five modules — one per class session.  Each module includes a list of required readings, additional readings/videos/films/podcasts, and a brief set of learning objectives.

Click on the links to the left for a more general set of Course Objectives, for the Course Requirements, and for the list of Journal Questions that will guide the bulk of your writing for this course.

Contacting Me

Click on my name (above) to reach my home page with contact information and a link for my Fall '08 schedule.

I will try to keep the office hours indicated on the weekly schedule, but I’m happy to meet at other times as well; just see me before or after class to arrange something.  I would like to conduct electronic communication through the Angel program’s Discussion Forum (“Ask the Professor!”), and will try to get online each workday at around 9:30 AM and 5 PM to answer queries left earlier.  Private queries can be sent to my office email, or left in my office voice-mail (982-5041).
