Welcome!Welcome to this modest collection of online materials for the Fall 2019 course on Logic (PHIL 230, Manchester University). This course meets three times weekly for 50 minutes, and is devoted to polishing up our abilities to think clearly. Along with that, we should also enjoy opportunities for practicing our skills of conversational etiquette (and the careful and charitable listening that forms a large part of that). An occasional side-benefit will be the opportunity to explore interesting philosophical ideas (insofar as they make an appearance in the guise of some argument). The formal study of logic began with Aristotle in 4th century BCE Athens. Logic as a practice, of course, began long before that – and we are still practicing.
