Description The
Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Manchester University recently
sponsored its 20th annual mathematics contest for 7th and 8th graders
attending Manchester Junior High, Northfield Junior High, Southwood Junior
High and Wabash Middle School. Eighty
students competed for individual as well as team awards. The individual
competition consisted of a written exam of 30 questions and a flash round
where students were presented 15 questions in sequence with a limited amount
of time to respond to each. Top finishers in each grade received trophies
and gift cards (1st, 2nd & 3rd) and ribbons (4th thru 10th). Teams
consisted of one student from each of the four schools working together on a
set of 13
more challenging questions, with the top five of 20 teams receiving
ribbons. Once you try out the team problems you can check your solutions. Contest
