Computer-Generated Concept Maps
This activity uses the Kidspiration concept map software program, but can also use the Inspiration concept map program or any other computer-generated concept mapping program.
Designed for undergraduate education majors, the activity asks students to choose a children's book, create a lesson that emphasizes an element of literacy such as comprehension as well as a computer-generated concept map activity, and to create a sample of the Kidspiratoin concept map used for the activity. Education majors are then asked to use the lesson with a real classroom of students in a field experience setting and to write a reflection on their experience.
The activity includes the research behind computer-generated concept maps as well as a sample activity and concept maps created by Kidspiration.
